Dr. Susan Gurry strives to improve the quality of life for children with autism
CAMBRIDGE, MA, July 13, 2011 /Science and Research PR News/ --Susan Gurry, Ed.D., BCBA-D, Autism Consultant for Gurry Autism Consulting, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in behavioral health services.
As a special education teacher with more than 35 years of experience, Dr. Gurry enjoys problem-solving with teachers and parents about the best ways to educate children on the autism spectrum. Since 1975, she has held a number of positions in which she educated and assisted children with severe disabilities; she has also taught special education at the university level. For the past two decades, she has owned Gurry Autism Consulting, an independent consultancy through which she provides educational and behavioral consultation services regionally. Dr. Gurry advises on matters including autism spectrum disorders, curriculum development and inclusion. She is considered an expert in the fields of autism and applied behavioral analysis.
In recognition of her work with schools, children and families, Dr. Gurry was recently named a Professional of the Year in Behavioral Health Sciences by Cambridge Who's Who. A major factor in her success is her exceptional educational background; she holds a number of degrees and certifications due to her passion for her field. Dr. Gurry holds an Ed.D. in special education and administration from Boston University as well as a Master of Science in special education, autism and emotional disturbance from Syracuse University. She also has a Bachelor of Science in special needs and elementary education K-8, also from Syracuse University. Dr. Gurry is, moreover, a board-certified behavior analyst and certified Massachusetts special educator, elementary school educator, middle school educator, and supervisor, director and administrator of special education. She is pursuing DIR/Floortime certification and remains current in her field through numerous professional affiliations. In the years to come, Dr. Gurry intends to continue expanding her knowledge of developmental disabilities and develop services to improve the quality of life for those with autism.
