Dorinne Peratalo Named Professional of the Year in Medical Technology
For 33 years, Dorinne Peratalo has exhibited an expertise in hematology fueled by her passion for her profession
GRAND RAPIDS, MN, July 13, 2011 /Science and Research PR News/ -- Dorinne Olga Peratalo, Medical Technologist for Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in medical technology.
When she was just in her first year of high school, Ms. Peratalo made the decision to become a medical technologist. "I was fascinated by the field," she says, adding that her hard work and dedication only grew her passion for the profession and brought her success. With 41 years of professional experience, she has spent the last 33 working for Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital. There, she showcases an expertise in hematology and chemistry as she works with patients, drawing their blood and running tests at the laboratory.
Ms. Peratalo earned an Associate of Applied Science in pharmacy technology from Hibbing Community College in 2009 to update her education and garner new skills in the ever-changing field of health care. She also holds a bachelor's degree in natural science and medical technology, which she obtained in 1970 from Eastern Mennonite College (now Eastern Mennonite University). A member of ASCLS, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the National Pharmacy Technician Association and Phi Theta Kappa, Ms. Peratalo aspires to work in a pharmacy and continue working in the laboratory in the years to come.
