Industry Leader Dr. Ganesh K. Kumar Added to the Cambridge Who's Who Network

Dr. Ganesh K. Kumar volunteers his time by organizing programs for children and senior citizens

    Chicago, IL, October 22, 2010 /Science and Research PR News/ -- Dr. Ganesh K. Kumar, Ph.D., Professor in the Division of Biological Sciences at The University of Chicago, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in biochemical research and education.

With 27 years of professional experience, Dr. Kumar serves as a professor at The University of Chicago. With expertise in neurochemical analysis, he takes responsibility in conducting research on animal models, examining the importance of certain neuroactive peptides and other chemicals in causing increased blood pressure in patients with sleep apnea, and correlating with the clinical data in recurrent and sleep apnea patients before and after treatment. Prior to attaining his role with The University of Chicago, he held several positions that helped him acquire experience in the medical arena. He worked as an associate professor, assistant professor, instructor and research associate at the Departments of Biochemistry and Medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland (1978-2007). In addition, he served as a senior and junior research fellow for the Protein Technology Discipline, Central Food Technological Research Institute in Mysore, India (1973-1978).

Dr. Kumar obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Mysore University (1979) and both his Master of Science in Chemistry (1973) and Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, from the University of Madras in India in 1971. He is a member of The New York Academy of Sciences, the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, The American Physiological Society and The International Society for Arterial Chemoreception. The American Thoracic Society recognized him as an Edward Livingston Trudeau Fellow and he was inducted into a fellowship with the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research in India. He has also achieved the R. Pattabhirama Reddy Gold Medal for Excellence in Chemistry from the University of Madras and the National Merit Scholarship from the Government of India. He accredits his success in research and chemistry to his hard work and outstanding mentors and co-investigators.
