Girl Scouts of California's Central Coast CAO, Shari Bridges, Appointed to National Council STEM Advisory Team

Girl Scouts introduce girls of every age to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities relevant to everyday life.

VENTURA, CA, June 25, 2010 /Science and Research PR News/ -- Girl Scouts of California's Central Coast announced today that Shari Bridges, Chief Advancement Officer, has been appointed to Girl Scouts of the USA's (GSUSA) Council Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Advisory Team to develop nationally consistent goals and implementation strategies which will foster opportunities for girls to explore STEM careers.

Ms. Bridges recently participated in the first STEM Advisory Team meeting held at GSUSA headquarters in New York City and will continue to work in collaboration with GSUSA over the next 12 months. Together, members from 19 other councils and key national STEM partners and funders will work to create a nationally consistent STEM experience which ties STEM back to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Ms. Bridges' position on the national STEM Advisory Team from a council advancement perspective will allow Girl Scouts of California's Central Coast to provide insights and recommendations for engaging girls in age-appropriate activities which makes STEM approachable, fun, and relevant.

Girl Scouts is the world's preeminent leadership development organization dedicated to helping build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Girls participate in an accepting and nurturing environment, and in partnership with committed adult volunteers, to develop strong values, leadership skills, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth that will serve them all their lives.
