Richard J. Staples, Ph.D. Excels in X-Ray Crystallographic Analysis
Richard J. Staples, Ph.D. is an expert in determining the arrangement of atoms within a crystal.
Dewitt, MI, September 18, 2009 /Science and Research PR News/ -- Richard J. Staples, Ph.D., President of Crystallographic Resources, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in x-ray crystallographic analysis.
Established by Dr. Richard Staples in 2006, Crystallographic Resources Inc. offers full-service capabilities which are needed to determine the three-dimensional structure of molecules and solids from single crystal samples. The laboratory addresses all types of single crystals, including those evaluated using a stereo zoom polarizing microscope. X-ray Crystallographic Resources also offers recrystallization services and consulting for various crystallographic related matters. Dr. Staples' recent interests involve the development of crystallization techniques and procedures that can provide single crystals of small organic or inorganic compounds quickly and efficiently. This includes the formation of a laboratory section of the x-ray course to include crystal growing of simple organic compounds and expansion to macromolecular x-ray diffraction. In the future, he aspires to provide powder diffraction services.
Dr. Staples has seen the publication of over 150 papers in referred journals. He is a former lecturer and manager of x-ray crystallography at Harvard University, a former university crystallographer at the University of Idaho, and a former senior research associate at Texas A&M University. He researched as a post-doctorate at Texas A&M University, received a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from Central Michigan University in 1985, and earned a bachelor of science in chemistry and mathematics from Central Michigan University in 1985. In 2004, 2005 and 2007, he was invited by the American Chemical Society to be summer school instructor of X-ray Crystallography for Industrial and Organic Chemists. Dr. Staples is a member of the American Crystallographic Association, the American Chemical Society, and the Protein Society.
