Captain Paul E. Kalapodas Sails the Seas

Captain Paul E. Kalapodas specializes in maritime transportation operations

    Pompano Beach, FL, September 29, 2009 /Science and Research PR News/ -- Captain Paul E. Kalapodas, a maritime consultant for the South Florida-based renewable natural energy resource company Greenwise and Vice President of the research and engineering company Logtron (www.logtron.com), has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who as a lifetime member for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in maritime shipping services.

Mr. Kalapodas is active in the shipping industry with an unlimited USCG Third Mate's license. He has sailed in the offshore oil industry with Tidewater Marine as a limited tonnage Master in the Gulf of Mexico and West Africa, Angola Luanda and Cabinda. In 2008, he served as Captain for Edison Chouest Offshore. Prior to that, he sailed as a Second Officer with Celebrity Cruise Line, and worked as a navigation officer for the cruise ship company Majestic America Line.

During his school years, he served on the USNS Leroy Grumman, a fleet oiler, as a cadet observer. He sailed with MSC for approximately four years on various vessels, fleet supply vessels, USNS Saturn and USNS Sirius. He also served as Third Officer on the USNS Patuxent and the ammunition supply vessel USNS Kilauea out of San Diego, which toured Honolulu HI, Tumon Bay, Guam, the San Francisco Bay area and Alameda, CA. Upon his graduation from New York Maritime College (SUNY) in 2000, he sailed with MSC (Military Sealift Command).

This past summer, he served as an instructor with seagoing experience on the New York Maritime College's training ship Empire State VI. He attributes his success to positive thinking, professional skills and a goal-driven nature. Mr. Kalapodas serves as the president of the Maritime Alumni Association, South Florida Chapter and aspires to further establish the chaper to give back to the school.
