SPEX CertiPrep introduces new Certified Reference Material RoHS/WEEE Check Standard

    METUCHEN, NJ, August 19, 2009 /Science and Research PR News/ -- SPEX CertiPrep is offering a RoHS/WEEE Check Standard (ROHS-25) that contains Br, Pb, Hg, Cr, and Cd in a Polyethylene matrix. The standard comes in a 25g size. The Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) was put in place to reduce the hazardous materials content in electronic products as well as increasing the recycling efforts of these products. RoHS requires manufacturers reduce the usage of Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated biphenyls, and Polybrominated diphenylethers in their products. WEEE sets specific criteria for the collection, handling, and recycling of certain products including large and small household appliances, IT and Telecommunications equipment, consumer equipment, lighting equipment, electronic and electrical tools, toys, leisure, and sport equipment, medical devices, and more.
