Grace Jepkemboi Honored for Excellence in Collegiate Education

Grace Jepkemboi emerges at forefront of higher education

    BIRMINGHAM, AL, June 30, 2009 /Science and Research PR News/ -- Grace Jepkemboi, Ph.D., Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of collegiate education.

Dr. Jepkemboi has seven years of professional experience, two of which have been in her current position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. At her post, she is responsible for teaching students about child development, advocacy and family relations, introducing curriculum using expressive arts, conducting research, and supervising students. She notes that she became involved in her profession after teaching in Kenya and conducting extensive research in the field of child development.

A solid educational background and the support she receives from her family and colleagues are the keys to Dr. Jepkemboi's success. In recognition of her accomplishments, she was honored with a number of awards from the University of Alabama at Birmingham including the Special Achievement Award, the International Scholar and Student Services Academic Excellence Award and the School of Education's Excellence Award. She also received the International Doctoral Fellowship Award from the American Association of University Women.

Dr. Jepkemboi earned her Ph.D. in Child Development, Child Advocacy and Early Childhood Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2007. She is a member of the American Association of University Women, the World Organization for Early Childhood Education, the Alabama Chapter of the Association for Childhood Education International, and the Golden Key International Honour Society. She aspires to attain a full-time professorship, continue her research and open a school in Kenya to focus on educating children living with AIDS.
