Alyssa Thomas Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who
Alyssa Thomas one of few women in physical chemistry at Ohio University
ATHENS, OH, June 5, 2009 /Science and Research PR News/ -- Alyssa Thomas, Graduate Research Assistant at Ohio University, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of scientific research.
As a graduate research assistant at Ohio University, Alyssa Thomas excels in the study of spectroscopy, physical chemistry and nanotechnology. Her primary responsibilities include conducting research and overseeing laboratories and experiments. She has defended her dissertation successfully and has conducted a number of research studies regarding thin film water, nanotechnology and spectroscopy, to name just a few.
Ms. Thomas enjoys being challenged by her research and is proud to be one of only a few women at Ohio University involved in the study of physical chemistry. Personal drive, passion for science and the support she receives from her teachers are the undisputed keys to her success. She looks forward to entering the world of academia where she will pass her knowledge and passion for the field of chemistry on to future students. Recipient of the Donald R. Clippinger Outstanding Graduate Student Fellowship in 2007, she has been invited to teach at Ohio University while working to complete her Ph.D.
A graduate of Heidelberg College, Ms. Thomas received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology. She is a member of the American Association of University Women and the American Chemical Society. Actively involved on campus, she a member of the Presidential Advisory Council on Campus Safety and the bike safety committee. She also serves as graduate senator for the College of Arts and Sciences. Ms. Thomas an avid supporter of Children International, through which she has sponsored a child for the last three years.
